Guatemala currency

Guatemala official currency is the Quetzal (GTQ), the current change is 1 US Dollar = 8 Guatemalan Quetzal. Notes are in denominations of GTQ100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Coins are in denominations of GTQ1, and 50, 10, 5 and 1 centavos.

Credit & debit cards : Visa and American Express are accepted everywere, Diners Club and MasterCard have a more limited acceptance. ATMs are common throughout the country.

The traveller's cheques areaccepted by most banks and main hotels. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, take traveller's cheques in US Dollars.
