El Salvador money

The currency of El Salvador is the Colon (SVC) called also "peso". Notes are in denominations of SVC 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200. Coins are in denominations of SVC 1, and 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 centavos. The U.S. dollar are acepted everywhere

The actual chage is $1=9 SVC, to change foreigne currency is better go to banks that, usually, do not charge a commission for changing either currency into the other. Outside El salvador is difficult change SVC so visitors should reconvert all unspent Colons before leaving the country.
